What is hope to me?
If you had asked me a year and a half ago I wouldn’t have known how to respond exactly, but since then I have been through things I never thought I would go through in a million years. Now I have a better idea what hope means to me.
Someone I am very close to went through the hardest of times imaginable and with that comes things that can either break you or make you stronger. For me, it not only made me stronger but I also learned more about the role of Faith and Hope in helping me to believe that things will get better.
My faith in God has increased dramatically. And yet I am now faced with another unexpected event in my life involving someone else I love very much. This is another setback. Sometimes it seems this way, that hard times comes one after another, hardly giving you time to catch your breath. We have to remember to be positive from the depths of our souls. I have always said, “God won’t give us anything He doesn’t believe we can’t handle.” He knows our strengths more than we think. I also believe, “You never know your true strength until you go through the hardest of times.”
This is definitely true for me. No one said life was supposed to be easy. So now if someone were to ask me what Hope is I would answer:
For me Hope is looking at my beautiful children, watching them enjoy the little things in life and not taking life too seriously. Hope is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, even when things are so hard in the moment. Hope is that beautiful, special, white and black butterfly that visited me every single day I went in my backyard last summer. It would flutter all around me constantly. I knew it was God’s way of letting me know that everything would be okay, even when I was at one of the lowest times of my life.
Thank God for Hope, because without it, it would be hard to go on.
